4 km cycle followed by 2 km run

adult event cancelled 6 June due to weather conditions

The Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society’s 15th Annual Ridge Ramble Biathlon was held Sunday 13 June. The drizzle cleared just in time for the race, and the sun came out briefly for the prizegiving. Immediately afterwards heavy rain began.

This was in contrast to the previous week, when the race was initially scheduled – torrential rain and gusting winds left little choice but to cancel the event on that day. The adult entrants, many of whom were from out of town, later did the 20 km cycle / 10 km run as a social event. The kids’ race was then rescheduled to 13 June.

There were a healthy sixteen entries, including five teams. All competitors gave their best and three new course records were set. All received medals and ribbons, and were determined to return in 2005.

This year for the first time the event was held as an MS fundraiser. This aspect was ably led by Jess Hunt – many thanks to all who contributed generously to this charity and to those who collected pledges.

An event like this would not be possible without the help of numerous volunteers and sponsors – thanks to all who contributed and special thanks to Linda Helm for her co-ordinating role.
