Community Futures Peace Liard is please to announce that the third annual Northern Women?s Symposium is set for April 2nd and 3rd and is being held in Tumbler Ridge.
With the help of our sponsors we are able to deliver this event at a cost that is affordable to most businesses and organizations. We are bringing an event to our rural communities in the north that is traditionally only available in the larger centers. Space is limited so register early! Enjoy the Tumbler Ridge experience!
Over two days, participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops for an incredibly low cost presented by Skillpath. The keynote speakers will be addressing the theme topic ?Developing Strategies for a Changing World?. Community Futures Peace Liard is the organizer of the Symposium and General Manager Sue Kenny is looking forward to another successful event. ?The two day event is structured to promote professionalism in business and the workplace and also allow for invaluable networking amongst the participants. Feedback from previous years has indicated that this conference has been extremely successful in these two objectives?.
New for 2008, is the commitment and policy of Community Futures Peace Liard to minimize environmental impact of the event while maximizing the positive social imprint on the host community of Tumbler Ridge.
Organizers are requesting participants and suppliers to help support this policy by making small, but important changes. Participants are requested to carpool to reduce carbon emissions from travel. Water coolers will be installed at the venue rather than the provision of disposable water bottles and participants are encouraged to bring their favorite reusable water bottle from home and refill as much as necessary without added waste.
Another major component of the Northern Women?s Symposium is the Aurora Awards of Distinction. Do you know of a woman in the northeast who demonstrates leadership in her field, who mentors and supports other women, encourages collaboration or champions an idea? Nominate her for an Aurora Award of Distinction in one of the 13 categories available. Details and nomination forms as well as registration forms are available on the website at ww.communityfutures.biz or by contacting Joyce Lawton, (250) 782-8748.
