49 Forever

I?ve been going here and then going there for a couple weeks so I am surprised to be home. Of course, we simply can?t miss granddaughter Darby?s birthday. She was the first baby born to Tumbler Ridge parents in 2000 so I know how old she is. (Her older sister, Kyla, was born on my birthday so I won?t forget that birthday either!) This year?s party was postponed a couple weeks due to chickenpox etc. but we?re all set to celebrate tomorrow.

Spent a couple days last week in Dawson Creek looking after grandson John who was home from kindergarten with a very bad cough so we just got home today. We have to go to DC again tomorrow night to a farewell dinner for an old friend. Then, just to keep our car warm we?ll be off to Edmonton to the doctor for a check up. (Maybe some shopping??)

A niece of George?s sent me a few thoughts this week;

I am woman! I am invincible! I am pooped!

Being a woman is a terribly difficult task, since it consists in dealing with men.

Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.

Old age is no place for sissies!!

As long as you know that most men are like children, you know everything.

Can you imagine a world without men? No crime, and lots of fat women.

I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Inside every older person is a younger person–wondering what on earth happened.

Once again I?m sitting here dreaming over seed and plant catalogues. Of course, I have never had a finished garden but I?ve spent many winters planning what do next summer. Now I?m wondering how I can garden this year. Has any one out there used one of those low garden carts? Would it work for me? Let me know if you have had experience with one. (242 3915).

Just a hint if you plan to drive to Dawson Creek. Avoid the early evening hours. We met more than 60 vehicles including trucks of all sizes between Grizzly Lodge and the big hill that signifies civilization is here. It was not fun driving, let alone being a nervous passenger!

Well, it?s nearly supper time so at least one of us will have to get active in the near future.
