Advance Entries for Emperor’s Challenge

Although the Emperor?s Challenge is still a month away, advance entries have been coming in steadily, and over eighty have been received. Defending champions Kris Swanson and Jen Legault have both indicated they will be returrning to challenge the Roman Mountain once more. And there are rumours that a BC road running champion in the marathon distance may be coming from Victoria to tackle the tundra in what is billed as the word?s toughest and most beautiful half marathon. It could well become a battle of the Titans…

The ninth Emperor?s Challenge will go on 11 August, starting and finishing at the Core Lodge, 35 kms south of Tumbler Ridge. The event is organized by Tumbler Ridge?s Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society. Participants have five hours in which to complete the 20 km course, with 750 meters elevation gain and loss in a circular route that leads over the summit of Roman Mountain, over 2000 meters above sea level. Run with the goats, cruise with the caribou, trot with the ptarmigan, and rise to the Challenge!
