Saturday, October 2nd the Tumbler Ridge Ski and Skate Swap was held at the Community Centre. There were seven tables set up, but the Tumbler Ridge Thrift Store had so much stuff to sell that they grabbed another table. The Thrift Store had over 25 pairs of boy/men skates, 50 pairs of girl/women?s skates, 25 skis (downhill and cross country) and one curling broom. Besides skates and skis, there was also hockey equipment, snowboards, snow board boots and even a pair or two of roller blades.
The Ski and Skate swap was organized by the local hockey and figure skating clubs. The Wolverine Mountain Nordic Society also had representation at the swap.
Over 30 people came through looking for skis, skates; many went home decked out for the coming winter season. ?I?ve been looking forward to this event because I can get all of my winter activity stuff here and save loads of money over buying new,? was a comment from one of the Mom?s as she looked at skates. Thanks to everyone who showed up for this swap and enjoy all of your new equipment
