Annual Talent Show hosted by young people’s drama group

The third annual ?On The Spot Talent Show? will be taking place following spring break. The members of Theatre On The Ridge ? Young People?s Drama, host this event each year. The goal is to provide a stage for anyone who would like to get up and show his or her talent. The show is an opportunity for everyone to come and enjoy and watch as the talents of Tumbler Ridge unfold. The event is open to the public to perform and attend, with no age restriction.

Over the past three years there has been everything from lip-synching to belly dancing, live bands, vocals and instrumental to monologues. Theatre On The Ridge uses these events as fundraisers to keep the club running for the current year. Within the club season, which is September through May, the drama club puts on two stage productions and therefore, cost is an ongoing issue. In the three years the club has existed, they have put on several memorable shows and events.

Currently Theatre On The Ridge has 12 members and these young people really enjoy developing skills of performing arts. This club promotes confidence, teamwork and the encouragement to work on emerging interests and improve them. Any show or event they put on for the community is a labour of love and as such, the support of the public means a great deal to them. Also, backstage help, props and costuming are always in short supply. Please contact Erin Hanna 242-3364 or erinmike@pris.ca if you have any skills or items that would be useful to the drama group. The exact date, time and location will be announced soon. Please watch for public posters, the TRCAC window at the Community Centre, advertisement tent cards in restaurants and the Town Crier here in the Tumbler Ridge News.

Pre-registration will be required for those who wish to take part and forms will be available once specifics are announced.

Theatre On The Ridge meets Thursdays at 4:15-5:15 pm in Room 3 of the Community Centre and is an open registration club for youth 6-18.
