Atoms put up good fight in Taylor

The Atoms took their dog and pony show on the road to just over the other side of the Peace River in Taylor on January 14 and 15. Needing some extra bodies, they hooked up with the Atoms from Clearview to field a team.

The first game was against a team from Ft. Nelson. The boys had a rougher go, as they started the third period down 4-0. They scored a couple of goals, but the game finished 7-2 for the team from Ft. Nelson. ?The game got rough at the end?, noted coach Dan Golob. ?That?s what will happen every time when the referee lets a few calls slide from both or either side. A penalty call can even out a play. When there is no call, then unfortunately it is left to the players to even out?.

The next opponent was the Dawson Creek Cougars, first period goals were scored by Logan Edwards and Eric Golob for a 2-1 lead. Eric added another in the second, as the team finished with a 4-1 victory.

On Sunday, the team played the Ft. St. John Northern Vac Vipers. It was 1-0 when Eric Golob notched his third goal of the tournament. Jay Kelly scored in the second, but it wasn?t enough. The Ft. St. John team cruised to a 9-2 victory. ?Ft. St. John had two really strong players that carried the team?, noted hockey dad Ian Leach. ?And that was the difference?.
