(Vancouver, Feb. 16, 2006) – BC?s naturopathic physicians today expressed support for Premier Gordon Campbell?s plan for health care innovation and renewal.
BC Naturopathic Association (BCNA) President Dr. Garret Swetlikoff said: ?BC?s naturopathic doctors (NDs) fully support government?s Throne Speech commitment to better access, greater choice, increased flexibility and new options in health care.
?There are some who may react nervously about the idea of a wide ranging conversation on the future of our health care system, but the time has come for a free and full debate.
?BC?s NDs look forward to participating in these discussions and ensuring that the hundreds of thousands of British Columbians who choose alternative modes of primary health care have better access to an even wider range of safe and effective options,? Dr. Swetlikoff said.
Naturopathic medicine is government-regulated, science-based natural medicine that is practiced in British Columbia by highly educated, licensed naturopathic physicians. NDs must complete a minimum of three years of premedical training followed by four years of full-time study at an accredited naturopathic college.
The health services naturopathic physicians provide are safe, reliable and preferred by steadily increasing numbers of British Columbians because they focus on wellness and prevention.
