The Ladies Auxiliary of the Tumbler Ridge Royal Canadian Legion has a wonderful project:? the making of blankets for our Canadian soldiers who are serving abroad. The projecdt was started in the West Kootenay Zone, and has spread to other Legions. The blankets are a reminder to our injured or sick soldiers that we support them and that we haven?t forgotten them.
If anyone in the Community would like to participate by making a blanket (or blankets), we would be happy to send it with those we have done. The guidelines for making these blankets are as follow: Size: (36-45?wide by 45-50? long). Fabric: Fleece ? knit or crocheted; quilted cotton or flannel with batting. Colours: Bright or Patriotic colours are good. Finishing: Roll each blanket; tie with a ribbon and tag with a note ?Made with love for your recovery by (NAME) ?.from Canadian Angels. Note: If using double sided fleece, please finish off the edges. If using single sided fleece, please back with another fabric. Tack with embroidery thread or buttons to hold batting in place).
We will box and ship them, with tall shipping costs covered by the Royal Canadian Legion – B.C./Yukon Command.
Many thanks to everyone who is willing to participate ?. But the main thing is to have fun in doing so.
