Breaking new ground in Tumbler Ridge

March 16, 2007 will be one of those days that will become a milestone in our community history. The property has been chosen, and the forest is being cleared for a new facility to be built this year.

Mayor Caisley said: ?This is a major breakthrough for Tumbler Ridge and a re-enforcement of the credible and effective marketing strategies we have implemented in attracting new development within our community. The professional manner in which this development has evolved has been outstanding. The efforts put forth by our entire staff, headed by our Chief Administration Officer, Mr. Lonny Miller and our Economic Development Officer, Mr. Ray Proux has enabled your entire Council to support and authorize the building of this important facility.

This 99 suite Hotel, with a major conference centre and a 4500 sq.ft. pub and restaurant will be a welcome addition to our community?s overall growth and development. It will increase our capacity to attract and retain additional professional developers and others who can see and believe in the future potential of Tumbler Ridge. It will be considered a ?benchmark? and a ?catalyst? in attracting new residents, tourists and entrepreneurs. On behalf of our entire Council, I want to welcome the Days Inn to our community and wish them much success.
