Building a School in West Africa

Mrs. Kennedys and Mr. Greengrass classes continue to raise money to build a school in West Africa.

They have been delivering newspapers, selling home made Christmas cards and they are hosting a dance for the grade 4 -7 student.

People have been donating money like Mr. Bill Hendley from New Touch Carpets, who proudly donated $50.00. The board who ran the Thrift store also donated $500.00. Now with the generous donations we have raised over $2000.00. Thank you so much!!

If you would like to help out, you can donate your bottle return money at the Recycling Center to this wonderful cause!

The kids in Mrs. Bell?s class are saving their spare change and donating some of their allowance money too. The money they collect will be used to purchase a Unicef Gift of Magic. There are many gifts that the students can choose from in a range of prices. These gifts help third world people with such things as health, education and clean water. Students will collect money up until December 7. Then they will count the money and decide which gifts to buy.

This year our theme is Christmas Around the World. Our concert will be on December 20th at 1:00. If you can not make it on Thursday our Dress rehearsal will be on Wednesday, December 19th at 1:00 so you would be welcome to come during that time.

In cooperation with the Christmas food hamper drive, the have asked if our school could ask parents to provide a can of soup as a donation when they come to our concert. There will be donation boxes in the boot room.

In an effort to keep the gym floor dry, kindly remove your shoes before entering the concert. Your shoes can be left on the boot racks or at the back of the French room.

We are still collecting Canadian Tire money as a fund raiser so if you have some to donate please send it in.

Sharing the love of Reading

During school wide silent reading on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the students in our school will be able to read to community volunteers for 1/2 hour right after lunch. We have numerous individuals who have been helping out with this program, but we need more! If you could help out, please get a criminal record check done at the police station and then come on in and volunteer!! This is on a drop in basis so you can come when you can! The kids love the extra attention!
