CHAMBER CHATTER

Hi Everyone. It seems like ages since I last chattered away to you all. I truly hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season, and if you had a chance for a get away that it was fun. We went to Laughlin for ten days in January, it was nice, but colder than usual, and it is windy this time of year, which we didn?t know; however my husband, Paul and his brother got to golf eight out of ten days.

AGM ? February 18, 2009, room #4 at the Community Centre at 7:00 pm. Please would all members make an effort to come. We want your input to events you would like to see happen this year. Last year the turn out at our AGM was the best in our District. If you are interested in becoming a Chamber member, you are welcome also.

HELP PLEASE ? We need for our Executive this year, a President, 1st and 2nd Vice President, Secretary and some Board Members. The people currently holding these positions have worked their terms, and some are leaving for various personal and business reasons. If anyone wants to step up and take a position we would be very grateful.

It has been brought forward to the Chamber that we have a committee for each function that we do this year. The Committee members will only be responsible for that function, making the load lighter for all members. If you wish to put your name forward, you can call me at the office and I will forward it to the nominating committee and give you information you may require about these positions.

NEW MEMBERS FOR 2009 – We are pleased to announce that we have two new members already this year: They are:

1. Absolute Instrument Supply: Located at #6 ? 115 Commercial Park, right next to CNRL. The Business Development Manager is Benjie Myers. Please stop in and say hello. You can also phone him at 250.242.5335

2. Paddy Cakes Catering: Patsy Shea is the owner of this home based catering business. You can call her at 250.242.3335.

You will be getting your invoices in the mail shortly. Last year I sent them out in December and they seemed to have gotten misplaced in the holiday mail and chaos, so this year President Howard told me to send out the invoices in January/ February.

Please don?t overlook your Chamber Member Benefits. One of them is Versapay; for those of you who use credit and or debit machines in your business, if you do not have a very special rate with your main company, you need to contact me. The Chamber can save you your membership fee and probably more per year through this Chamber Benefit. We endeavour to save you your Membership each year through benefits and reduced rates at Chamber Functions.

Please remember to support your local businesses. I heard someone commenting about Shop Easy just the other day.

They had gone in to ask Darryl if he could get something for them, they said in two days their order was here. Try this with any of our local businesses. You may be surprised to find out what you can get right here at home with the businesses that support our community.

Thank you for supporting your Community by Shopping Local!

A little thought for this week, especially for those who have or have had a pet!! Some self-evident truths about pets! Dog?s have owners. Cat?s have staff!! Have a good week everyone.
