Hi everyone. Today I have some public information and of course Chamber Information to share.

First of all I am happy to say that we have TWO more new Members for 2009:

MUSICAL MARMOTS STUDIO ? Crys White, owner of a Piano Studio; you can reach her at 250.242.4499

TUMBLER RIDGE VETERINARY CLINIC ? Owners Zoe and Mike Ross from Dawson Creek. They come to Tumbler Ridge three Mondays a month. You can call 250.782.5616 to find out which Mondays they are coming and book an appointment.

Remember that all members new and old are entitled to the Chamber Benefits. Group Insurance, payroll services and Debit and Credit card services through Versapay and TD Bank, which will save you a lot of money. There are more, stop by the office for more information. If you are a Chamber member and need group insurance, please contact Annemarie Haapala at 1.888.782.6955, she will give you a quote from Volkswagon to Cadillac service!! You choose which coverage you want.

Now some public information. As you all already know I attend all the Council meetings that I can. On February 23, 2009 the Mayor and Council had ?Power Outage Debriefing? on the Agenda. It was a very good discussion, and some very good points came out of that session. I have permission to tell you in my Chamber Chatter. Next time there is an extended power outage, please remember to phone Town Hall at 250.242.4242 if you need assistance other than medical. They will either answer the phone and your questions, or a message will come on and tell you what to do. As we are at the end of the power line, we are at the mercy of what happens on our line. We hope never to have another outage that long, but Town Hall is now prepared. You can also listen to CJDC or CBC as they will also have information for Tumbler Ridge residents.

If you have any suggestions you think the Town Hall may be interested in, please feel free to share. Tumbler Ridge belongs to all its residents.

Other things that are happening that I am involved with is Seniors Needs. There will be an information corner opening in the Youth Centre when it reopens with its new d├ęcor. This corner will provide information that Seniors may need, and it will be a contact point for Seniors & Disabled until a Seniors Center gets opened one day. We all want a Seniors Complex built tomorrow, but it takes time to get these things done, and we all started with baby steps.

TR Cares, a Chamber Member, will provide travel to those who need it to medical appointments in Tumbler Ridge. You need to give them advance notice and it does also depend on the availability of a driver, as this is all volunteer. Give them a call if you need a ride to the Doctor?s office; 250.242.7444. You know of course that they provide travel to some out of town Appointments.

I am busy getting the membership renewals out of the office. If you are not a Chamber Member, but would like to be one, we would be very happy to have you, just drop by the Chamber office in the Rec Centre and we will get you all signed up.

Our new Board meets for the first time on March 4, 2009, so I will have a lot of new things to tell you next week. Until then ….. shop at your local stores. Remember if you need something ? I bet if you ask they will bring it in for you. They keep our town alive.

Thank you for supporting your community by shopping local!

Talk to you next week.

Little Johnny is always being teased by the other neighborhood boys for being stupid. Their favorite joke is to offer Johnny his choice between a nickel and a dime — Little Johnny always takes the nickel.

One day, after Johnny takes the nickel, a neighbor man takes him aside and says, ?Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. Don?t you know that a dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel?s bigger??

Johnny grins and says, ?Well, if I took the dime, they?d stop doing it, and so far I?ve made $20!?
