It is so nice to Spotlight a Company that has been in business for a number of years in Tumbler Ridge. Roy and Marla moved to Tumbler Ridge from Saskatchewan twenty five years ago this April. Roy worked for Quintette for ten years and operated his construction business on his days off.
They used to do snow clearing in town for various businesses and also schools and apartment buildings. Sidewalks were included so as Marla said ?we hired quite a few students and all our own children worked at this all through their school years?. ?Teenagers really do not like getting up at 5:30 in the morning especially to work.?
Fifteen years ago Kodiak Ridge became a LTD. Company in Tumbler Ridge. Kodiak supplies: dozer, backhoe and trackhoe services, dump trucks, plow and sand trucks and provides winter sand to those who need it. They also do welding, they have a steamer to thaw out frozen culverts, etc. They also have a gravel pit.
With four graders Kodiak does extensive winter and summer grading on secondary roads and leases. They work for the oil and gas companies and also for Peace River Coal; one of the local mines. They do residential work such as installing water and sewer lines..landscaping and building garage pads as required.
Kodiak Ridge belongs to ISNetworld, which is to do with Health and Safety. This network makes it easier for larger companies to make sure companies are equipped with proper WCB, Contractors Insurance, Core and HSE. It just makes sure you are complying with standards set out for working in various fields.
They have five full time employees, one being their son, Chad Barrett. They also hire part time equipment operators when required.
They moved to Tumbler Ridge twenty five years ago to an acreage they called Echo Ridge Ranch, which is known as Sanctuary Valley today. Marla and Roy have four children which were all raised in Tumbler Ridge and now have two wonderful grandsons. They like to go to the Coast and go boating and fishing when they can.
Roy and Marla would like to thank all of their clients for their support over the 25 years. As small business owners they are appreciative of the support they receive from business owners in our area, and from the major corporations who do business with the local contractors.
The Chamber of Commerce is very pleased that a long time Business is a Chamber Member. This support is what keeps us trying to be better each year.
You will find Kodiak Ridge Construction at 116 Commercial Park, (behind Northern Metalic) the big green shop. Stop in and say hello to Roy and the staff. Phone/Fax: 250.242.4428 cell: 250.242.1401 email: firstname.lastname@example.org
