Bylaw 527, 2007 & Bylaw 528, 2007 At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Council adopted both Bylaw 527 & Bylaw 528, 2007. Both of these bylaws finalize the required Official Community Plan Bylaw and Zoning Amendment Bylaws for the proposed rural residential development. The 61 lot subdivision is located south east of town near the industrial park and construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2008.
Food Distribution Grant At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Council approved a grant of $1,500 to the Ministerial Association for the startup costs for the Food Distribution Program. The New Life Assembly will be administering the program on behalf of the TR Ministerial Association. For further information on the program contact Pastor George Rowe.
Councillor Sipe?s Resignation At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Council accepted a letter of resignation from Councillor Sipe effective December 31, 2007. Council directed staff to schedule a Special Meeting for January 2, 2008 to appoint the Chief Elections Officer and Deputy Chief Elections Officer for the March By-election.
Northern Lights College Request for Lot Donation At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Council passed a resolution donating three residential lots to the Northern Lights College for the residential building program. The three lots will be built upon over a three year period (one lot per year) and the profits from the sale of the new homes will be invested back into the Tumbler Ridge campus programs.
Appointment of Bylaw Officer
At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Council passed a resolution appointing Jennifer Wells as the Bylaw Officer for the District of Tumbler Ridge. Council congratulated Ms. Wells on her appointment and welcomed her to the position
Mayor?s Task Force on Seniors Needs At the November 6, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council, Mayor Caisley reported that in the near future a Task Force will be developed to explore the needs of Seniors in the community. Prior to the development of the task force a series of Public Meetings will be held to address the topic. The Seniors? Needs Project completed by UNBC will be the basis for the initial discussions and a more definitive plan for Tumbler Ridge will be developed over the next few months.
