1. Call to Order: 5:30pm
(a) Bylaw 533, 2007 ?A Bylaw to Provide Exemption of Certain Lands Within the Municipality of Tumbler Ridge from Taxation.?
BYLAW CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS NO. 533,2007
Third reading of ?Tax Exemption Bylaw no. 533,2007? has been rescinded due to the removal of a subject property from the bylaw. The subject property in question:
Lot N, District Lot 3164, Plan 28445, Peace River District. Owner, 1085134 Alberta Ltd. and occupied in part by the Church of Jesus of Latter day Saints. 890 sq. feet of business improvements to be exempt.
This has been removed from ?Tax Exemption Bylaw no. 533, 2007? because the Church is no longer using this space.
BYLAW TUMBLER RIDGE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB NO 533, 2007
Amended bylaw No. 533, 2007 ?A Bylaw to Provide Exemption of Certain Lands Within the Municipality of Tumbler Ridge from Taxation.? -Third reading.
(b) Bylaw No. 184 and Bylaw No. 243 ?A Bylaw for Leasing Property to the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club?.
The motion to repeal Bylaw No. 184 ?A Bylaw for Leasing Property to the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club? and Bylaw No. 243, ?A Bylaw to amend the Lease Made the 16th Day of August 1988 between the District of Tumbler Ridge and the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club? has been carried by Mayor and Council.
Mayor and Council carried the motion of the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club Society to cancel existing lease with the District.
Mayor and Council have approved up to $50,000 to cover the operating expenses and debts of the Golf Course, of which $29,145 will be paid to the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club Society. This money will be used to pay off third party creditors.
Mayor and Council has approved the write off of $31,340 owing from the Tumbler Ridge Golf &Country Club Society.
The past year, Administration has been working closely with the Tumbler Ridge Golf and Country Club Society to try and get the golf course operating more smoothly and on the right track. A golf consultant, CK solutions, was hired to assist in this venture. Now that the District of Tumbler Ridge has control and responsibility for the golf course, work will need to be done in order to bring the clubhouse up to fire, safety and health codes. CK solutions will be providing District with a report that will highlight both short and long term strategies and options for the golf club and it?s future.
3. New Business: (a) Property Sale Approval of Part of Lot 3, Plan 31190, DL 3164.
Mayor and Council approved the sale of 2,449 square metres of part of Lot 3, Plan 31190, District Lot 3164, at $38,000 to Mr. Pernell Kirby for the development of a grocery store. Councilor Kirby recused himself during these proceedings due to conflict of interest.
