Bylaw 519, 2007 ?A Bylaw to Establish a Conference Centre Service?
At a Special Meeting of Council on April 10, 2007, Council gave third reading to Bylaw 519, 2007 ?A Bylaw to Establish a Conference Centre Service.? Once this bylaw has been adopted the District of Tumbler Ridge can proceed with the execution of the partnering agreement with the Days Inn for the development of a Conference Centre. Final Reading of the bylaw will be considered at the April 17, 2007 Regular Meeting of Council.
At the Policies and Priorities Committee Meeting of April 10, 2007, Council discussed the adoption of a Communications Policy. The purpose of the policy is to be open with the media and to ensure that clear and complete information is provided to the public regarding municipal decisions and the decision making process.
The proposed Communication Policy will address the following communication channels; advertising, annual report, citizen survey, email,. identification cards, logo and coat of arms usage, media inquiries, news releases, voice mail, website, town hall meeting, and the Ridge Report. It is Council desire to have this policy in effect in the very short term.
Peace River Municipalities Association Meeting
At the Policies and Priorities Committee Meeting of April 10, 2007, Council discussed attendance at the Peace River Municipalities Meeting in Taylor on April 25, 2007. The Peace River Municipalities Association consists of member communities from the Peace Region and the Peace River Regional District. The Association meets on a bi-annual basis to discuss initiatives relative to the Peace River Area. Council has submitted the Oil and Gas Regulatory Improvement Initiative and the Protection of Landowners Rights as an agenda topic. Council will also be seeking regional support for the three resolutions that have been submitted to the North Central Municipalities Association Annual General Meeting.
