Curling bonspiel champs

Local curling talent took the ice for some friendly competition in last weekend’s (February 17 and 18) bonspiel in Tumbler Ridge.

“Everybody seemed to have fun,” said Tumbler Ridge Curling Club vice-president Bernie Lehmann. “The men’s games were, for the most part, close.”

Deb McQueen’s team won the ladies A event, Joanne Kirby’s team were victors in the ladies B event, and Jean Slaney’s took home the hardware in the ladies C event. On the men’s side, Bernie Lehmann’s group were champions in the A event, skip Dan Ferguson’s team won the B event, and Al Kangas steered his team to a win in the C event.

No out-of-town teams showed up for the Tumbler Ridge bonspiel. Two local teams took part in a bonspiel held in Chetwynd in late January.
