Dawson Creek loses two businesses to fire

On Tuesday, April 4th, at approximately 2:30 am, both Club 928 and Ho-Lee-Chow restaurant were damaged due to extensive fire. The damage to both businesses was estimated at $2.5 million and neither business can reopen at this time, as they are gutted from the fire and fire control efforts.

Dawson Creek Fire Chief Shorty Smith, formerly of Tumbler Ridge Fire Department, was called to the scene and upon first reports, arson was considered a possibility.

Smith was interviewed on television regarding this investigation and said, ?Fire 928 was suspicious in origin and as soon as we (Dawson Creek Fire Department) determined that, from the Fire Department point of view, we turn it over to the RCMP and they do the investigation. At press time, there was no further information released by the RCMP.
