Dinosaur donation

DINO DONATION: The Peace Region Palaeontology Research Centre’s (PRPRC) planned 2011 exploration program stands to benefit from last Wednesday’s (March 3) $5,000 donation from the North Peace Economic Development Commission. Preliminary surveys of some Late Cretaceous dinosaur  fossil sites show that hadrosaurs (duck-billed dinosaurs), horned dinosaurs, and tyrannosaurs were once active in northeastern British Columbia.

"After actually seeing these sites, it would be a shame not to support the research centre, as it has a very positive impact on the entire region," said commission chair Dan Davies, seen here presenting the cheque to PRPRC collections manager Lisa Buckley. The commission has now made annual donations to the centre in each of the last three years. Dan Davies photo.
