Tumbler Ridge residents will be treated to an evening of drama, music and the arts when ?An Evening of Performing Arts? debuts on Friday, June 25 in the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School gymnasium.
The program comprises an array of performances, from interpretive dance to inspirational art; from literary readings to short comedy skits. The event is intended to literally shine the spotlight on the musicians, artists, poets and actors who live and work among us, and several of the performances feature original works.
This project was awarded funding through CJDC/NTV ?Community Project Award? and its proceeds go to supporting the arts in the high school. Funding will be used for costumes, art supplies, a curtain system and equipment fees.
Brian Bray of the TR Arts Council will coordinate sound and lighting and artists Joan Zimmer and Claudia Hunter have volunteered to create stage sets and art displays.
Volunteers are still needed for carpentry and for various last minute tasks.
Artists who wish to showcase their work in a Visual Art display are asked to contact Tanya Drover at TRSS or Carolyn Golightly at NLC.
Show starts at 7 pm. Advance tickets are available at Northern Lights College or from the TRSS drama department. Tickets are $5 each and will also be available at the door. Refreshments will be available during intermission.
