DAWSON CREEK, B.C. ? Global-Spectrum Facility Management is very pleased with the turn-out for the FMX World Tour on February 14, 2009 at the EnCana Events Centre as there was a capacity crowd. The official count for the Free Style Motocross event was just under 3,600 people.
?What an awesome show consisting of non-stop high-flying stunts and the back flips on motor bikes. But to top it all we experienced our first sell out at the EnCana Events Centre. If you think about the numbers over a quarter of Dawson Creek was at Saturday night?s performance? truly awesome. We would have liked to open more seats to meet the increasing demand for tickets but for safety reasons we could not allow our patrons to sit in a few specific areas,? stated Gunnar Fox, general manager for Global-Spectrum Facility Management who operates the Encana Events Centre on behalf of the City of Dawson Creek.
Building upon the success s of the sell-out crowd was Carmella Winiandy. She was the winner of the ?sweetheart of a deal? gift package consisting of a $750 gift certificate to Lothar Triebal Jewelers, $150 gift certificate to Divine Salon and Day Spa and four gift certificates of $100 from Mr. Mikes, Shoppers Drug Mart, Gridiron Fitness and Starbucks at Canada Safeway.
?Carmella is a single mother of one and could not believe that she had the winning flower; the flower with the blue ribbon. Her eyes started to tear up when I explained to her what she had won. This present was a great Valentine?s Day present to someone who truly deserves it,? stated Assistant General Manager Ryan MacIvor.
Building off of the FMX World Tour is the X-treme International Ice Racing on Friday & Saturday, March 13 & 14, 2009. The AMA Pro Tour will be holding its 9th & 10th rounds of its sixth annual championship indoor ice racing series at the EnCana Events Centre. The series features lightening quick Speedway Motorcycles and ATV racing on a thick oval track of ice. Top professional riders from England, Scotland, Canada, and the United States in two professional divisions will be competing for National Championship titles. The event also features an amateur quad division, showcasing local ATV riders who join XiiR for one night of pure adrenaline.
The speedway motorcycles are very lightweight, volatile machines that resemble mountain bikes with large powerful engines burning on nitro methane fuel. What separates the bikes from other forms of racing is the NO BRAKES ALLOWED rule.
The Quad division features highly modified ATVs built and prepared specifically for oval track ice racing. Any engine or chassis configuration is allowed as long as the machine is rear-wheel driven and no wider than 52 inches at any point. Wild machines seen nowhere else and crazy bump-and-grind action are the trademarks of the XiiR/ AMA quad racing.
Don?t miss the chance to support your local ATV riders who will have a chance to mix it up with the pros and capture the reward from SuperTrapp Industries Dash 4 Cash! This $500 reward challenges any local quad racer who can compete against the XiiR Quad Roster and win the main event.
All machines are equipped with razor sharp steel studded tires and are capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds! Visualize all this inside the tight confines of an ice hockey rink and you just may be close to imagining the thrill of this X-treme winter motorsport.
