First Duplexes Starting to Rise

Workers maneuver the first piece of the first duplex into place

On Thursday, October 11, the first modular duplex arrived in Tumbler Ridge, destined for the new development at the corner of Southgate and Monkman Way.

Work on the new development began just over a month ago, clearing trees and starting to bring in water, sewer and electricity.

Each duplex arrives in pieces about the size of a semi-trailer, which are assembled in a large plant in Idaho, then shipped, travelling nearly 2000 miles to get here.

Now that the duplexes have started to arrive, construction should progress quickly as the pieces are assembled, then roofs and other finishing touches are added on-site. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
