Former Tumbler Ridge News Editor Greg Amos is recovering after falling while rock climbing at Smoke Bluffs in Squamish.

Amos, a passionate outdoorman and athlete was climbing at the bluffs when he fell about 20 meters, breaking his femur and his wrist. “I have no idea what happened,” says Amos, “but I woke up in the hospital.”

Amos was editor of the Tumbler Ridge News before leaving to start an internet news site. He moved on to Grande Prairie to work for the Daily Herald before winding up as editor of the Columbia Pioneer in the Kootenays.

Along with the broken bones, Amos suffered “many cuts to the face.” He is currently at Vancouver General Hospital, and expects it will take about three months to recover. “I’ll never take walking for granted again,” says Amos.

“Or climbing, for that matter.”
