This year?s pRRRdy Partner Environmental Award recipients have been selected. This year the most nominations (25) were received and the nomination form was available on-line. The award committee had the challenging task of selecting winners in four categories. The categories include:
Individual/Family, Private Sector (business), Public Sector and Educator (school or teacher). This year?s winners are?
Individual/Family: Margaret Sutton from Dawson Creek has a long history of recycling and composting and is aiming for zero garbage at home. There were two Honourable Mentions awarded this year: Rose-Ann Kirkeeng from Hudson?s Hope and Jeff Cox from Fort St. John
Business: Peace Valley OSB has made the environment an important facet of the business and currently recycles nearly every waste they produce. There is an environmental committee to help the mill with environmental issues brought forward by the staff. Honourable Mention goes to Focus Surveys in Fort St. John.
Educator: Karen Fraser at Crescent Park Elementary School has devoted her extra time to co-ordinate the school?s recycling program. She holds quizzes and contests that provide information in a fun way. She is an active member of Destination Conservation at her current school and while she taught in Tumbler Ridge. Baby Bear Day Care in Fort St. John receives Honourable Mention.
