TUMBLER RIDGE ? The Workforce Training/ Continuing Education department at the Tumbler Ridge campus of Northern Lights College is expanding to meet the growing needs of the community.
Karsten Henriksen assumed the department?s coordinator position effective Jan. 2, moving from a similar position
at the College?s Dease Lake campus, where he was in charge of Workforce Training/ CE programs for the Stikine region.
Henriksen becomes the first full-time Workforce Training/ CE coordinator at the Tumbler Ridge campus. He is looking forward to the challenge of the position, especially helping meet the needs of the growing energy and hospitality industries.
?In the past, the Workforce Training and Continuing Education coordinator in Tumbler Ridge has been part-time,? Henriksen said. ?But the College is showing its commitment to the community, and its commitment to developing and presenting programming to meet the growing needs of the various community members.?
As part of that commitment, a community roundtable is planned in the next few months, to discuss Workforce Training needs. Further details will be made public as they become available. The College will also present Workforce Training opportunities in the construction sector.
Henriksen plans to be out in the community in the coming weeks, highlighting the Workforce Training/ Continuing Education opportunities offered by NLC. If you have a course suggestion, or a request for programming, contact Henriksen at Tumbler Ridge campus at 242-5591.
