Gritty Performance Brings Home Silver

The last tournament of the season for the T.R. Wolves Novice Hockey team was held in Chetwynd, February 28th. The Wolves had a short bench of only eight players, a star defenseman down with the flu and another player absent.

The team rallied and beat Chetwynd, Taylor and Hudson Hope. This put the Wolves in a final playoff spot against a very physical Dawson Creek team.

Veteran players Jay Kelly, Josh Lucas and Bret McPherson worked very hard to get by a solid Dawson defense line and were able to put the puck in the net. Andrew Leach and Nick Mackay were also able to each get passed the Dawson goalie. Aaron Wylie did his best between the pipes to keep the hard skating Dawson Creek forwards at bay. It was a nail biter for coaches, parents and grandparents alike.

After a valiant effort by the Wolves, the final score was 8-7 for the Tim Bits.

Coaches Brian Wylie and Maurice Lucas were very proud of their team?s effort as they played with grit and heart right to the final buzzer.

Congratulations for a fine hockey season: Jay Kelly, Josh Lucas, Bret McPherson, Mathew Schriber, Andrew Leach, Aaron and Jared Wylie, Nick and Chris Mackay and Jake Popovitch. You are all winners!
