Tumbler Ridge Days Society Announcement

Tumbler Ridge Days Society a group of volunteers who organize and promote the Grizfest Music Festival have established a Community Involvement Program where funding will be made available to promote education in music, arts and culture within the community of Tumbler Ridge.

The Community Involvement Program will consist of establishing criteria for a scholarship for Tumbler Ridge Secondary School students in the music, arts and culture field, criteria to support music, arts and cultural educational opportunities within the school system when other funding is not available and criteria for supporting other music, arts and culture opportunities to the public.

The committee will be contacting the schools, Arts Council and community in the near future inviting suggestions for support in offering educational opportunities in music, arts and culture.

Grizfest Music Festival gives groups and organizations opportunities to participate in the festival and earn fundraising dollars for their organization. Did you know the Hospice Palliative Care group provided a shuttle service and earned $3,320 for their services. Youth services provided children?s games and earned $2,000 for their services. Tumbler Ridge Arts Council and the Travel Group earned $2,000 for their services at the dance.

There are many opportunities for groups if they want to become involved in the festival. Security on the grounds, providing food services for the artists and volunteers, shuttle service, children?s games, vendors, etc. If your group or organization is interested in getting involved in the festival or has an idea please call Bryant at 242-4246.

Community support and spirit is important when organizing and implementing an event like Grizfest. Approximately 126 volunteers and Grizfest board helped over the Grizfest weekend with billeting, security, hospitality, games, gate personnel, cashiering, stagehands and many other tasks.
