The Grizzly Valley Saddle Club held its final event of the year on Sept 16 with a well attended gymkhana and trail competition and it was a chance to try out the new footing in the arena. Gary Doonan just inched out Corey Bolick for overall points in the gymkhana, and Gary?s granddaughter, Mackenzie, won for the tots? category. Corey was able to just squeeze past Larry White to pick up first place in the trail class. This event tests the rider and horse through a series of obstacles and maneuvers and was judged by Doug Foerester. Doug?s presence gave the Saddle Club the opportunity to present him with a cheque for $450.00 for the Hospice and Palliative Society. This was a percentage of the Club?s fundraiser, the poker ride, which took place in June. The GVSC wishes to thank to all the donators and sponsors to the poker ride. Also, this year saw an increase in the number of visitors to view the horses and donkeys. Everyone is welcome and members are always willing to show off their equines to anyone who will listen.
