Hawkair provides medical travel to northern communities

Hawkair announced today that it will extend its one-way medical fares of $209 plus fees and taxes to people returning from medical treatment in Vancouver. The announcement comes in response to Northern Health Authority?s struggle to find affordable return airfare for medical travellers.

?Most people that fly out of the northern communities by air ambulance end up having to pick up most of the return portion of their travel,? says Thomas Beshr, Hawkair?s General Manager. ?We see that there is substantial demand for economical north-bound travel for people returning from Vancouver after emergency ambulatory care.?

?We are pleased to be able to help our communities in this way. Since we are from the North, we understand that special circumstances may arise that require travel such as medical emergencies.? These fares allow passengers to make last minute bookings without the inconvenience of paying a higher last minute fare, and permits changes your travel dates without a change fee.

People wishing to book may call reservations at 1 800 487-1216 or book through their travel agent. Proof of medical travel is required to secure this fare.

Hawkair offers daily scheduled passenger service between Terrace, Ft. St. John, Dawson Creek, Prince Rupert and Vancouver.
