Hunter gets nod for the NDP

After countless miles, meetings and keynote addresses, Michael Hunter has secured the New Democratic Party nomination for the federal riding of Prince George ? Peace River. Hunter will receive his official designation at a rally in Tumbler Ridge on March 20th.

Speaking from his home Hunter said, ?The team has done a great job. We hit the ground running and never let up. I?m honored to have this responsibility place upon me, and I am excited about the opportunity to represent Canadians in Prince George ? Peace River.?

Hunter earned his degree at the University of Alberta and worked at an international consulting firm in Edmonton before moving to Tumbler Ridge in 1993. From 1993 to 2003 when the Bullmoose mine closed down, he worked as a driller and heavy equipment operator.

Asked about his varied background Hunter said, ?I?m a working Canadian with an education. Right now we need someone who can articulate what it is to work a 12-16 hour shift and try to raise a family in this economy to wake up those folks in Ottawa.?
