Hybrid hockey

Crosbie Bourdeaux

So far the hockey season is going great! Since hitting the ice early our players have had a great jump on learning skills and tweaking their old skills.

The coaching volunteers have been FANTASTIC and a big THANKS to those that have taken the task on, without the coaches there would be no hockey.

All of the RAPTOR hockey players from the youngest to the oldest hit the ice on the weekend of October 19 and 20 to attend hockey camp. We had 57 registered. It was a great opportunity for the players of all ages to do some training with Power Play Plus from Grande Prairie. Power Play delivered some excellent training and were so enthusiastic and patient. We hope to have them return to Tumbler Ridge in the future.

We could not have hosted such a great in-house training without the tremendous help from the volunteers and parents and great support from the local community businesses.

So I want to ask you…. What do you get when you combine the Bantam team with the Midget team?? You get a new hockey team called the BANGETS.

On Oct. 24 the parents voted in favour of the Bantam and the Midget teams combining. The new Banget team will play hockey in the new league within our area against other Bangets in Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Clearview, Hudson Hope, Taylor, and possibly Fort Nelson and Chetwynd. This will give these teams more opportunities to play games as the number of players for the Bantam/Midget teams were low.

For parents of the Bangets: there will be a scheduling change for hockey practice. The Peewees will continue their practice at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays. The Bantam & Midget practice is at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and from now on referred to as BANGET. There will be new parent positions needed but we will have another meeting when we know more.
