Junior Rangers Travel to Vancouver Island

Four Junior Rangers had the trip of a lifetime this July. Brayden Watt, Ashton Fallon, Fawn Pack and Cody Legaspi traveled to Strathcona Park Lodge and Outdoor Education Centre for a week and a half of outdoor fun. The centre is located in a remote area, approximately 40 km west of Campbell River. While there, the four Junior Rangers participated in hiking, camping, canoing, mountaineering and outdoor adventure skill development. The four Junior Rangers were able to meet and connect with youth from across Canada during their adventure.

The Junior Rangers meet locally throughout the year every second week. They participate in several activities throughout the year, including those that focus on ranger skills, traditional skills and life skills. The program, which was officially launched across Canada in 1996, offers youth ages 12-18 yrs a program with structured activities. The Department of National Defense and Canadian Forces along with Indian Northern Affairs Canada fund the Junior Rangers and the trip to Vancouver Island was fully funded for these youth, including travel.
