A parent meeting was organized and took place in September. It was nice to see so many parents attend. The goals for this meeting were to engage in positive dialogue focused on our kids, to become aware of the plan for growth at TRSS and to generate ideas for making an already good school great. Many ideas and themes emerged from this meeting. A small group of parents met in November and worked out strategies to implement some of these ideas. A couple of the plans that were developed were ?Muffin Morning? and ?Student Recognition Assemblies?. Both have been highly successful. Our next Muffin Morning will be March 1. All parents are welcome. Please bring muffins to share if you are able to and if not, please come anyway! Our next student recognition assembly will be March 16 @9:50. A huge ?thank you? goes out to those parents who have helped to make these activities happen!

TRSS would like to take this opportunity to welcome two new staff members.

Shawna Langlois taught in Peace River, Alberta for two years. She moved to Tumbler Ridge this past fall and taught a grade 5/6 split class at TRE for four months. She has a minor in science. Miss Langlois will be teaching PE, Media Arts, Science 10 and she also has an online block where she will be working with students who are currently working on electric education courses.

Kathy Knechtel is from Dawson Creek. This is her first teaching assignment. She is a math/science major and taught at South Peace Secondary School for her practicum.

We are delighted to have you both here!
