Kodiak Chronicles

I joined the Tumbler Ridge Steering Committee last spring to represent the youth in our community. The Steering Committee was in charge of organizing and facilitating the labour market survey, amongst other things, that some may have heard about or even participated in. There were different parts to the survey and I presented the main points of interest to a number of the high school students. Most thoughts and opinions of the students boiled down to one thing in particular; Tumbler needs more things for people to do. Our town has many outdoor activities and a fair range of sports, but we have no indoor entertainment facilities such as bowling, movies or shopping. The rest of the survey didn?t really appeal to the students. They agreed with the data on the most part, but emphasised the point that we need more things to do and not just for kids, but for everyone in the community.
