Tumbler Ridge resident Gary Gurnsey has been nominated to be one of three directors seeking election to the Board of Lake View Credit Union. There are four candidates, but he is the only person from Tumbler Ridge or Chetwynd.Gary is committed to representing the interests of all members, especially the residents of Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd. He and his wife have two teenage children that have resided in Tumbler Ridge for the past two and a half years. He works for a First Nations community in Chetwynd as Manager, Land Referral Office.
His background is in business, government and the not-for-profit sector as well as First Nations. His extensive career experience that includes banking, accounting,administration, management and economic development. Most of his career has been in the forest sector, both the private sector and with the BC Forest Service. More recently, he served as Manager of a Community Futures Development Corporation and the McLeod Lake Indian Band as an Economic Development Officer.
Gary is an active community enthusiast with past and present service in a variety of areas including Big Brothers, Air Cadets, Nechako Valley Historical Society, Toastmasters, Rotary, McLeod?s Lake Post Historical Society, Junior Canadian Rangers, Tumbler Ridge Climbing Wall and his church.He reports a long association with several Credit Unions in B.C. He has been a member at Williams Lake, Prince George, Vanderhoof and Tumbler Ridge.
