TRSS Leadership students were fortunate enough again to attend the the 3rd Annual Leadership Conference in Prince George. This conference was a great experience for our students. They came away with new ideas of how to promote school spirit and were able to learn many skills which will help them to be even better leaders in their school and community. The students were very grateful to Mrs. Treit for driving them to Prince Geroge in the TRSS school bus. Here are a few articles that the students wrote about their time at the conference.
A couple of weeks ago I went to a leadership conference in Prince George. It was an experience of a life time. Our leadership group all got separated into spirit groups, which were the people we?d have to hang around with when we did activities. At first it was a little scary having no friends in the spirit group but when I found out that everyone else in my group didn?t have any friends either, we started to bond. The guest speakers we listened to were very motivating. They told us about us some great tricks for promoting school spirit and when we put their tricks to the test it worked. We tried some fun games and our school seemed to really enjoy it. This leadership conference was a great experience and I am looking forward to next year?s conference.
Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend a Leadership Conference held in Prince George. I saw a talent show, public speakers and got to enjoy a great dance. I met many new people and had lots of fun. I would recommend this experience to all students in leadership and if you ?re not in leadership I encourage you to join.
Once again, the Leadership Council at DP Todd in Prince George did an amazing job organizing the Northern Leadership Conference. There is only so much that one can fit into a two day conference, so a lot of the learning was left to the participant. The more that you mingle, the better a time you have. Luckily for us, the kids that participated in this conference were all amazing, so making new friends was a given, not a coincidence.
Even so, the organizers made sure that we got the most out of the weekend. For the two days that we were there, we were bombarded with motivational speaker after motivational speaker, each one with a slightly different message. In between talks, we broke off into our spirit groups to discuss leadership and have fun. Even though the conference was only two days it was definitely a time to remember.
This was my third year attending the regional leadership conference in Prince George and I was sure I knew exactly what was going to happen. It seemed like it was going to be the same as the past years, but boy was I wrong. The motivational speakers varied from ones that had me in tears from laughing to near tears because of the emotion they brought to their presentations. We even got to experience not one but two live band performances. By the end of the conference the whole leadership team was full of new ideas of things they wanted to try at our school. I can?t wait to see how the rest of the year progresses and how the years to come will bring forth new sprit within our school and eventually our community as a whole. I love the leadership conferences and can?t wait to find out about the ones to come in the following years.
My experience at the leadership conference was quite eventful. Many lessons were learned and a lot was taken home from the speakers, but it was the simpler meanings that are remembered for ages. We learned many new strategies to make our school better and plan to implement them in the near future. Best of all I met a girl with the same name and same interests as me proving it is quite a small world. The leadership conference was a wonderful experience and I hope to attend next years too!
