Local songwriter captures prize

DAWSON CREEK, BC, June 2, 2007 — The song has been chosen, but now the hard work begins.

Wayne Ezeard, a Dawson Creek resident for more than 30 years, captured Peace Media Group?s (PMG) songwriting prize with his reflections on the past, present and future of Dawson Creek.

?This is quite a surprise, but it?s a great feeling when something comes together at the last minute like this song did,? says Ezeard. ?I?ve been writing short stories, poetry and songs for the last 20 years so it?s exciting to be involved in a super project like this.?

The winning song will be featured on the soundtrack of a DVD being produced by PMG that will celebrate Dawson Creek?s 50th anniversary. The DVD is a companion piece to a commemorative book to be published in 2008 that will recount the history of Dawson Creek and it?s citizens.

In addition to the $200 gift certificate from Guitars ?n? Stuff, Ezeard?s song will be professionally recorded at Solar Peace Recording, and Peace Videoworks will produce a professional video of the song that will be included on the DVD, as well as shown on Shaw TV from Williams Lake to Fort St. John.

The song will also be featured at the DVD release party, already in the works for early 2008. ?There will be a big gala release party for the DVD and book, with live performances by Peace Country musicians playing Peace Country music,? says Bert Goulet, recording engineer with PMG and owner of Solar Peace Recording, Pouce Coupe.

Peace Media Group is a collaboration between Peace Videoworks, Peace photoGraphics Inc. and Solar Peace Recording.
