LOGGING TRUCK ACCIDENT ON HWY 52

On April 4 at 0732 AM, the local detachment of the RCMP were called to a logging truck roll over on Highway 52E.

A fully loaded logging truck was North bound when it attempted to negotiate a sharp, left hand curve.

The driver of the truck was unable to keep the rig on the road and the right wheels subsequently dropped off of the edge of the pavement. This caused the logs to shift and eventually the truck to roll.

The truck sustained severe damage, estimated at more than $85,000. The driver sustained a gash to the head and was transported to the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre where he received treatment.

The contractor was out of Prince George, and were hauling short logs out of the South Grizzly valley. Speed, and long hours were a contributing factor to the accident.
