Tumbler Ridge?s Lake View Credit Union has responded to the new economic-growth and changed customer needs with a major service upgrade and renovation. The Credit Union was established in Tumbler Ridge in July 2001after the Royal Bank moved out, leaving the community without banking services. The staff complement has grown from three to five with expectations to grow in the future.
Project manager Walter Hanisch, Foxchapel Marketing & Design has specialized in renovation for Credit Unions for the past ten years. Based in Toronto, this is the company?s first project in British Columbia. Under Foxchapel?s business? motto, ?Solutions that Capture Attention?, every project has its own unique brand.
Hanisch?s work methods correspond with the Credit Union mandate. Both are focused on the support of the local customer and economy. Walter Hanisch incorporates local contractors and suppliers in his projects.
General Contractor Don Swanton is the owner of Chetwynd-based 4DK Development Ltd. Swanton has been in business for over 30 years and offers both commercial and residential services. Plumbing and heating (HVAC) is by Zwick from Dawson Creek. The electrical contractor is Independent from Fort St. John, and drywall and ceilings are by McInerney Brothers, Fort St. John. Flooring is being supplied and installed by Peace Country Flooring from Dawson Creek. The Glazing is by All West Glass from Chetwynd. Painting is being done by 2 Stroke also from Dawson Creek and exterior signage is being handled by Busy Bee from Dawson Creek. Most of the materials come from the Peace River district. Well thought through decisions were made to keep the expenses as low as possible. One of them was not to move the vault. The energy efficiency of the furnace and air conditioning will be met through the replacement with two roof top units, and there will be solar panels installed in the next few weeks.
Lake View Credit Union will take over the 1,600 sq feet previously occupied by Sears, increasing the floor space to 3,000 square feet.
The 42″ LCD digital display screen, suspended from the ceiling, will be used to display messages, promotions and relevant Credit Union information to those members that are entering or waiting in the Lobby. ?As people generally do not like line ups, the effect of the screen will assist in easing the time while waiting for a teller or for an appointment? says Hanisch.
