Lieutenant Dustin Curry and Firefighter Brandon Braam display their Fire Officer Level I certificates

Matt Treit, Fire Chief

The month of March was an exceptionally quiet one for the Tumbler Ridge Fire Department. The TRFD responded to only five calls this past month which included two reports of ringing fire alarms, and three First Responder calls.

Members of the fire department, including Sparky, also spent some time participating in the activities at the annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday.

Training in the month of March included the topics of Wildland Firefighting, Strategies and Tactics, Ropes and Knots, and the firefighters also wrote an exam through the Justice Institute of British Columbia on the topics of Forcible Entry, Building Construction, and Ventilation. Congratulations to Deputy Vandale, Lieutenant Curry, and Firefighters Leach, Thibodeau, and Braam who all achieved 100 percent attendance at practice sessions in the month of March.

A special congratulations also goes out to Lieutenant Curry and Firefighter Braam who have completed their Fire Officer Level I certification through the Justice Institute of British Columbia. This certification required the completion of seven courses which these two members completed on their own time in addition to their regular training at the fire hall. Kudos to both of them for this accomplishment.

The Tumbler Ridge Fire Department is continuing to look for new members. No experience is necessary. If you are interested in joining this organization and serving your community in this way, please take the time to stop by the fire hall for an application.
