The annual food drive kicked off at the Firehall on Wednesday afternoon. It was an unseasonably warm day, a pleasant change from last year?s chilly temperatures.
The Food Drive is an annual tradition, and is always held in December. In an election year, as this one was, the newly elected Council and Mayor make the rounds of the community, collecting food stuffs for those in need.
The drive generated two full wagon loads of nonperishable products, an excellent response from the community.
Donations of nonperishable items can be made at any business drop off location or at the Thrift Store in the Commercial Park, across from Northern Metalic. Their hours of operation are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm.
Food items that are not used in the Christmas Hampers will go into the food bank for 2006, and will be distributed as needed throughout the year.
