Don McPherson is taking time off from his duties as mayor to deal with a medical issue.
“I love my role as Mayor of this community,” he writes in a letter to Council announcing his medical leave, “and am expected to make a recovery and be back on the job within six months. I feel Tumbler Ridge and this Council have taken very positive and strong steps towards improving our community recently and wish everyone the best of luck during my absence.”
McPherson has asked Councillor Caisley to fill in as acting Mayor during his absence, and Council supports this appointment. “Councillor Caisley has served Tumbler Ridge with distinction in his time serving this community as Councillor and Mayor,” says McPherson.
McPherson took over as Mayor in 2014, after serving as Councillor for the District for two consecutive terms, and previously having served on Council on and off for the last 15 years.
