Brenda has lived in Tumbler Ridge for nine years with her husband Fred. They have been married for 26 years and have two daughters, Kerrie 22 and Christine 25. Kerrie and husband Doug, have two children Owen 2, and Ethan 4 months. Brenda got into realty about 5 years ago, starting off with TR Housing, then becoming the first realtor in Tumbler Ridge. Brenda is also the president of the Chamber of Commerce. Brenda feels that her recent work with the Chamber (the Coal Forum, and the All Candidates Forum) has been a great building block for this organization to start moving forward and doing more for its members. You can really tell she loves this town; all of her time is volunteered at the Chamber.
She has many favourite things about the community, but said ?It?s like living in a fantasy, that is cut off from the rest of the world.? There isn?t anything that Brenda would like to change about the town, but says she worries about the future of the WNMS hiking trails.
All the new construction around the town could easily have a large impact on what so many people love about this community. Brenda and Fred are both outdoorsy people, having skidoos and quads they can enjoy all the seasons. On top of an already hectic schedule Brenda still finds time to enjoy curling, and hanging out with her grandchildren. She is especially looking forward to Christmas baking with Owen.
Fred and Brenda have traveled to Hawaii, Mexico and the Dominion Republic. They never want to go anywhere twice. Brenda?s special moments in her life consist of her family, living by the statement that work comes second to home. She is proud of her marriage and her children, and says that being a grandma is one of the most exciting things she has ever got to do. When asked what piece of advice she would give anyone, she said ?No matter what you do, live life to the fullest and be happy, and enjoy everything you encounter as much as possible.?
What does the future hold in store for this happy couple; a life here in Tumbler Ridge. With plans of one day retiring in town, I think that we will see many more wonderful contributions from Brenda and Fred to the community.
