Muscular Dystrophy Fundraiser

The Luck of the Irish will soon be upon us! And on most days, we should all feel very lucky that we are happy and healthy. Health is often taken for granted. Not so in the case of millions of people afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy. Firefighters world-wide support the MD and contribute in many ways to charity and fundraising for this devastating disease.

The Tumbler Ridge Fire Department plans for fundraising include the annual boot drive as well as the auction of the print ?Station Tour? depicting a boy being shown around the firehall.

Between February 15 and March 17th, you may see giant green shamrocks in both Shop Easy and the Liquor Store. The benefit is called ?Buck for Luck? and the public is encouraged to pay one dollar per shamrock, put a name of your choice on it and it will become part of the hanging ?Shamrock Mobile?.

As has been the case for several years, the Chair for MD in Tumbler Ridge is Fire Captian Diana Vandale and the Co-Chair is Fire Chief Dan Golob. When asked why she is so dedicated to this cause, Vandale says reflectively , ?It is just a really worthy cause, I think. The money goes to a good place.?

Adds the Fire Chief, ?With such a worthy cause, it would be great to see the community embrace this charity as the firefighters have. Do your part to help.? Vandale nods her head, and says ?Buy a Buck for Luck?.
