New restaurant opens its doors

Since opening its doors for business on Monday, March 20th, Mac?s On Main has already enjoyed a healthy start. Could it be the fresh home-baked buns and soups that have quickly become the favourite on the menu? Could it be the lighter, fresh atmosphere that comes out from renovations?

This ideal location for a downtown eatery may finally be the answer. According to those who have stopped and tried things out, the sandwiches are the best they?ve had in a long time.

Owners Marla and Mac Eyre spent the last two months getting the place ready for business. With the help of Marla?s mother, Jill McIntosh, who bakes and makes the soups first thing in the morning before opening and sister Melanie McIntosh helping behind the counter as well, this has become a true family business. Marla smiles as she says, ?I will be getting trained by my mom so I can bake too.?

The first day saw approximately 40 people. The place seats 25 comfortably, with tables and also an eating bar along the back. The wallpaper and general d├ęcor of the restaurant is very bistro and light looking.

The challenge in Tumbler Ridge for business is that local shopping is limited. However, with the bustle of newcomers, a growing population and appreciative regulars, Mac?s On Main is a great place to enjoy some home cooking. Their motto is ?Come home for lunch!? Good Luck to the Eyre?s on this exciting new chapter.
