Students in Mrs. Bell?s grade 4 class are a creative bunch. Their novel study is The Cay, a story where a boy is stranded at sea and has to spend several days on a raft. So the students were given an assignment to make a model raft of their own. The rafts were super; they were made out of an assortment of materials from things such as straws, twigs, styrofoam and pop bottles. Some of the designs included shelters and sails. The kids all had fun making the rafts, but the real fun came when it was time to float them. They took their rafts to the pool to test their designs. Once all of the rafts were in the kiddy pool, the students had time for a free swim. A big thank-you goes to the pool staff for letting the kids use the aquatic centre.
