Troy Edward Patriquin, age 31, of Thornhill, ON, passed away on December 24, 2008, due to an Acute Asthma Attack. He was born on February 23, 1977 in Schefferville, PQ. Troy and his family moved to Kitsault, BC in 1981 and then to Tumbler Ridge, BC where Troy grew up.
Troy attended Tremblay Elementary school and Central Middle school in Dawson Creek, BC. At age 16, Troy attended Tumbler Ridge Secondary for two years. He then attended and graduated from the Jericho Hill School for the deaf at Burnaby South Secondary. Troy moved to Toronto in 2000 to live with his brother, Tim and he worked for GoodLife Fitness. He returned to Tumbler Ridge in 2006 where he worked at the Tumbler Ridge Golf Course, Shop Easy and with his father at T&P Basket Truck Service. At the time of his death, Troy was enrolled in a welding course at the Institute of Technical Trades where he was excelling.
Troy was an avid sports fan and loved to play lacrosse, rugby, volleyball, basketball and softball. Troy loved to work out at the weight room and spent many hours there.
Troy loved to spend time with family and friends and he was very patient in teaching sign language to them. He had a kind heart and his wonderful smile will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Anna, daughter, Kyra and stepson, Jaden; his parents, Wendell and Valerie (Black) Patriquin of Tumbler Ridge, BC, his brother, Tim Patriquin of Toronto, ON, sisters: Teresa of Kitimat, BC, Tanya (her husband, Brian Moore) of Chetwynd, BC and Tina (her husband, Jim Rose) of Rocky Mountain House, AB; his grandfather, Douglas Black of Newmarket, ON, father and mother in-law, Bonn and Kinch Phung of Thornhill, ON, brother in-law, William (his wife Sofie), sister in-law, Nicole (her fiance Tom), sister in-law, Jennifer, brother in-law, James, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and niece.
A funeral service took place on December 31, 2008 in Richmond Hill, ON. A memorial service was held on January 10, 2009 in Tumbler Ridge, BC. A private service will be held at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford, NS.
