On Friday, June 9th, approximately 100 people came to the public open house, called Passport to Education. An information pamphlet designed by students at the college, were in the shape of a paper airplane with the type layout visible on the wings and body of the plane. The theme was to encourage potential students to com in and get information on the courses available.
It included an online course demonstration as well as another called Smart Classroom. The former course is to show people who have never taken an online course, how the whole process works and the latter is done to show how the college utilizes technology to reach other geographical areas to obtain training from Tumbler Ridge.
Door prizes and refreshments were all part of the day, with Hawk Air sponsoring a grand prize of a flight for two to Vancouver, won by Rebekeah Zimmer. The profile and mission statement for NLC is ?Northern Lights College is a driver of learning excellence which exists to enhance and enrich the quality of life of the people and communities within the college region.?
