This year, the Peace Liard Regional Juried Show Exhibit will be hosted in Fort St. John, in the North Peace Cultural Center. The exhibit will feature local artists from the Peace Region. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 7pm–9pm and the show will remain open to the public, free of charge, until April 17.
Dan Arberry, an artist specializing in drawing, still life and photography, and Lynn LeCorre-Dalliare, who has been teaching art for over 25 years through community programs, public schools, and privately, both of Grande Prairie, will be adjudicating the event.
Prizes awarded will be Distinguished ($1000), Recognition ($500), Adult Student ($200), and People’s Choice ($300). Artists are also encouraged to sell their work, so there will be a great selection to choose from if you have some wall space to fill!
Last year, Peter Shaw took home the Distinguished award for his beautiful piece ‘Horsin Around’.
There were all kinds of entries; clay sculpture, oil painting, watercolours, even a beautifully carved antler received honourable mentions. This is the 30th year of the show and the tradition of beautiful, inspiring art from local artists is still going strong.
If you are a local artist who would like to contribute and get involved, information is available online or you can call the Artspost at 250-787-2781 or Coordinator Sue Popesku at 250-785-6214 for more info. The time is now, submissions are due March 7!
